“The Art Of Outdoor Living; A Resource For The Junior Maine Guide Program” is on my top ten list of most important books on bushcraft and outdoor living, and recently came back into print. It provides clear instructions on a variety of outdoor living skills. The updated edition features 280 pages of revised text, glossy photos and a spiral binding.
First published in 1946, this is the sixth edition. Designed specifically for the Junior Maine Guide program, it is a great resource and teaching manual for any outdoor program. If you teach people outdoor skills in any capacity, you should own a copy. I have had a copy of the previous edition for about ten years, and refer to it often when looking for a good way to explain something during our semester program.
As good as the book is, getting a copy is different from ordering a copy on Amazon. I recently spoke with MaineCamps.org, the publisher, and they sent me the following on how to order a copy:
To order a copy of the Art of Outdoor Living use this link to make your payment – $34 per book including shipping. Just explain why you are making a credit card payment and make sure you include your name and mailing address in the Additional Information Box.
