We started an online network this past summer. Officially it’s BushcraftSchool.com, The Jack Mountain Bushcraft School Online Network And Digital Learning Academy.
It’s sort of like a private facebook group, but without someone tracking everything you do, spamming you with ads, and without the angry political divisiveness that has come to signify social media. I’ll post more about how it fits into our big picture plans in the coming days, but wanted to offer readers of this blog the chance to hop on board with one of the things we’re doing there; a reading group called the Boreal Book Club.
We’ve got a few people with similar interests and will be reading a book per month (roughly) on related topics to bushcraft, bush living, expeditions, etc. Our book for November will be True North by Elliot Merrick. If you’re a longtime reader here you know that I’m a big fan of this book, having read it every year for the last 20. But I’m happy to read it again.
If you’re interested in participating, you’ll have to join us at BushcraftSchool.com. It doesn’t cost anything, but you do have to use your real name as we don’t do internet “handles”.
We’re scheduled to start the discussions at the end of this week. Hope to see a few of you there. You can join BushcraftSchool.com at this link.
