Over the past month of weeklong courses we got into many discussions about gear. Longtime readers know that I have mixed feelings about it. I like gear. I especially like simple, traditional gear. But I never want it to be about the gear. I never want to see gear, or lack of a specific piece of it, used as an excuse to not go. I especially never want to see having a specific brand or style of gear, or not having it, being exclusionary. Bushcraft is about doing, not buying, having or owning.

What we are lacking in skills and experience we often replace with gear.
True Johan, Like Tim has always said, “The more you carry in your head the less you carry on your back” hmmm or was that Oz, I know a smart guy said it though.

Well said. I like your way of thinking.
