I talk to a lot of people who are interested in running their own outdoor business, but haven’t pulled the trigger. I also talk with a lot of people who have pulled the trigger, but haven’t had the level of success they need in order to make it their full-time job. Due to requests from these people, this fall we’re offering a new course; Business Boot Camp For Outdoor Entrepreneurs. In it, we’ll focus on the fundamentals of starting and running an outdoor business, share tips on things such as course design, marketing and getting the word out about your programs, and teach you the skills you need to be your own boss. We’ll be hosting the course at our folk school, so there will be indoor lodging with wifi included. We’ll be in touch well before the course regarding the pre-course reading and writing exercises, because during the course each participant is going to publish and go live with their own WordPress web site after learning basic web design and best practices.
Although we’ve been working with and mentoring people interested in outdoor businesses for over a decade, this will be our first standalone business course. The focus will be on best practices, content marketing, identifying your target audience, ending procrastination and getting the message out there. We’ve got over 20 years running a successful outdoor business under our belt, and after being asked numerous times to put this course together, this year we’re doing it.
Dates are October 28 – November 2, there are four spots available, and the price is $950. Housing is included, but food is not. There is a modern kitchen where you can cook for yourself.
So if you’ve been stalling on launching your outdoor business and need to make some concrete plans, learn systems for consistently getting your marketing message in front of your target audience, and learning the fine art of executing and getting your stuff done, all from someone with two-decades of success in this arena, this might be a good fit for you.
Note: the focus of the week will be on executing and getting it done. Prepare to work hard, think hard, and execute.
