It’s July 4th week and we’re in the midst of a heatwave with temperatures in the 90’s. This type of weather always gets me thinking about winter! 2019 will be our 20th year running multi-week snowshoe expeditions, and thoughts of the winter trail are somewhat of an antidote to sweating while sitting still in the shade this time of year.
For 2019 we’ve got a busy winter schedule, including the Winter Woodsman and the Boreal Snowshoe Expedition back-to-back in February, followed by a trip to northern Quebec to experience Winter Living With Cree Hunters in early March. That will be 4 weeks living on snowshoes during some of the coldest (and most amazing) weather of the year. There will definitely be no bugs! We’ll also be offering a toboggan, runnered sled and mukluk week at the folk school prior to hitting the trail, so you could spend the winter using gear you made yourself.
If you’re interested in joining us on at the field school or on the trail this winter don’t wait too long; our winter programs are some of our smallest and they fill quickly. Here’s a link to our Master Calendar with all the dates and details.
