Beginning in January, we’re offering something new at our folk school in New Hampshire; lodge-based programs. They combine our popular bushcraft and outdoor skills programs with housing in our modern, comfortable lodge. These programs are limited in size and allow people to participate in our bushcraft programs without having to live outdoors. We’re still offering a variety of wilderness-based programs, but these open the door to those who want to learn to be self-reliant and get closer to the natural world but aren’t up for camping, especially in cold weather. They’re also a great option for people who want to escape the city for a weekend of woods time.
Currently we’ve got two programs scheduled for January:
- 1/15-1/17 Introduction to hot tent winter camping and winter expedition skills.
- 1/21-1/24 Winter bushcraft, lodge-based.
Group size for these programs will be smaller than our regular programs.
I’ll be writing more about these programs in the coming days. I’ll also be launching our new website about the lodge, and lodge-based programs. Stay tuned!

Excellent addition to your curriculum Tim! Looking forward to these programs as I will probably attend some.
