I’ve been working on a new online course, Foundations Of Outdoor Cooking, for a few weeks now. It is designed to prepare people to be able to feed themselves well on one of our long-term programs, as well as in any remote environment with no kitchen infrastructure. The premise behind the course is to use the same gear you will have with you in the field in your kitchen at home before the course and learn to make a few things with it that you can then make again in the field. The principles are to minimize the variables, simplify the cooking and cleaning process, and get some reps while at home where variables are easy to control.
This morning I posted the video for lesson 15, “How To Prep Your New Dutch Oven”, on BushcraftSchool.com. It demonstrates the three steps I take with a new dutch oven as when you get them new they are not ready to go.
I will be posting more about the course, but our long-term plan for this content is for it to live at our private online community at BushcraftSchool.com and not on the open web. It’s free to join.

Hi Tonya. The class is available on our private online network at BushcraftSchool.com, which is free to join.
