Our next series of programs is our summer term, beginning July 8th and consisting of the Summer Woodsman course and the Wilderness Canoe Expedition Semester (both are full and we’re not accepting more applications). The Summer Woodsman is a weeklong introduction to all that we do here at the field school. But more than an introduction to the skills of living in the northern forest, it’s an introduction to lifestyle and culture. The Wilderness Canoe Expedition Semester is four weeks of living out on the waterways of northern Maine, living the lifestyle of a professional guide. We’ll canoe hundreds of miles, cook over an open fire, and immerse ourselves in learning the way of the canoe, the canoe routes and the skills that make it home.

I’m excited for both programs, but also excited for two weeks at home with my family and a few days kayaking on the ocean.
