We were out on Squapan Lake recently to practice canoe paddling strokes and to see if we could get the trout to bite. A state fish stocking truck full of brook trout was at the boat launch when we arrived, and several float planes were taking fish to remote ponds in the North Maine Woods. It was interesting to talk with the pilots and get the details on the process. It was also interesting to see the container that held the fish and the mechanism that dropped them.
It was great to get a day with no wind to practice paddling.
