This blog has never been about getting more readers or trying to be popular. It’s not about knives, gear reviews, how-to articles, survival tv shows or lists of “essential gear”. I don’t jump on board with the trends in the outdoor industry; I’m about the traditions.
But there’s nothing wrong with people trying to grow an audience by writing-blogging-podcasting-YouTubing for that audience. I applaud them for doing it. “Give the people what they want” is an old saying with regard to media creation. It’s just not what I’m trying to accomplish here.
This blog is about the lifestyle; teaching outdoors, guiding expeditions, educational philosophy and simple living with a bit of humor thrown in here and there. My goal is to develop a body of work, over time, that explains and describes the woods life and what we do. I’m not interested in writing posts or shooting videos that go viral and become the flavor of the week. If it happens it will be the result of creating good work, not the purpose.
