A question I get asked on a regular basis, and one I wish would just go away, is what I think about the TV survival shows. Usually, the person asking likes one show and doesn’t like another, and is willing to support their hero to no end. Having spent the last few years with no tv, my answers have ranged from, “huh?” and “what’s that?”, to “never heard of it”, “they all operate under the same business model” and “I think it’s the greatest tv show since Joanie Loves Chachi”.
As of today I’m off the hook, not because I will never get asked that question again, but because Cody Lundin wrote a great essay about the topic. Cody is the bestselling author of two books on survival, and runs the Aboriginal Living Skills School in Prescott, Arizona.
So before you ask me this question read what he said about survival on tv here.
