Next weekend, March 9-11 (2018), the 26th annual Wilderness Paddlers Gathering will take place at the Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee, Vermont. It is put on by Northern Wilderness Travelers Conferences, the same group that runs the Snow Walkers Rendezvous in the fall. I’ll be attending and putting on a workshop titled “The Moveable Feast – Camp Kitchens For Nomads”, which will cover the gear and design of the camp kitchen we use on the trail summer and winter.
If you’re a longtime reader of this blog, you know that I really enjoy these events. The people are great, the venue is small and the food is outstanding. I’ve made a lot of friends and learned many useful skills there over the years. If you enjoy paddling you should put it on your bucket list.
You can register on their website. Options include camping, staying in a lodge and commuting. There are also two workshops on Sunday worth checking out: carving your own spruce canoe paddle and making your own wooden spoon.
I hope to see you there!
