Programs Vs. Courses And New Course Catalog

With the launch of our online network and moving some of our courses online, we’ve had to rethink what the pieces of the curriculum puzzle are and how they fit together. Step one was designing a course catalog framework to put our programs into. Step two was redesigning our curriculum and website so that it made sense. Step three was designing a new course catalog to reflect the changes. Check out our new course catalog here.

The curriculum of our programs is organized around the 7 elements of skill, journey, craft, nature, culture, sustainability and self. For long-term students we also offer programs in business planning and administration. Within each element are courses covering specific topics.

Think of courses as academic packages of information. They combine together to form our immersion programs, just as a semester of college is comprised of numerous courses.

To Summarize:
Courses: Topic-based, components of our field-based programs. Each course has it’s own intended learning outcomes and specific assessment criteria.

Programs: Learning programs in the field or online, comprised of one or multiple courses.

We’ll be adding specific courses contained within our semester programs to the semester pages in the near future.

Anything that appears to be an error in spelling or grammar is actually the author’s clever use of the vernacular, and as such is not an error, but rather a carefully placed literary device demonstrating prodigious artistic prowess.
