I was interviewed on CNN last night, on the show Laura Coates Live. They wanted a Registered Master Maine Guide and survival instructor perspective on the fugitive from the Lewiston shootings, potentially hiding out in the woods. It was an interesting experience. Here’s how things like this work, or at least how it worked for me.
I got a call from a New York phone number I didn’t recognize at about 10am. It was a guy who worked on the show, and wanted to know if I was interested in being interviewed about the developing situation in Maine. I said sure. He told me it would happen at 11pm est.
I did a bit of research on the suspect and spent the day as I normally would. I did take some time to make sure I had a clean shirt, and had my son make sure the lighting and audio was good.
As the time approached, I went into a bedroom alone with my laptop. I clicked the link they sent, and just like that, I was on the air with CNN. The host, Laura Coates, asked me a few questions, and I answered them. The whole thing took about 5 minutes.
With media appearances such as this, I am glad to be able to contribute, and hopeful I represented Registered Maine Guides and the town of Masardis well.
