Near The End Of The Fall, 2024 Wilderness Bushcraft Semester

It’s getting close to the end of the fall, 2024, Wilderness Bushcraft Semester, and I had a nature day. It was cold (in the 20’s) this morning. On my way down the hill, I saw a bunch of turkeys and a deer. We ran through our day on the course, then I cleaned up the shed near the Guide Shack for a bit. Late in the day, Christopher motioned me to come near the pond. A mink was running around. Then a muskrat swam out of the cattails, toward the mink. We thought we’d see the mink kill the muskrat, but the muskrat thrashed the mink! We watched the fight! The muskrat swam off to the cattails, while the mink hung around in the bushes for a few minutes. Christopher got a few photos of the mink before it ran off down the stream.

At sunset I went up the hill and looked for the comet. I couldn’t see it with just my eyes, but with binoculars I could see it plain as day. And the hunter’s moon.

What a day looking at nature. Awesome.
