I’ve been busy getting ready for our first field school program of the year. In The week and a half that I’ve been home, I went from getting vehicles stuck in the snow to bare ground. A lot of water has moved across the landscape. I only had to clear two trees from the road this year, a lot fewer than recent years, and was able to get through the snow drifts. Seasons change quickly when they want to.
I’ve gone through more photos from the Rio Grande trip and will continue to post them. This one is from the morning at the head of the canyons. You can see how dramatic the effect of the morning sun is on the canyon wall in the background. I though it created a nice contrast.

Beautiful. Sleeping in the open air gives you a connection to nature like no other. My students who experience this pleasure for the first time are blown away at how simple it can be. Ticks are out now, though….so the fear sets in quickly for them. “They don’t eat much.” is my candid response. :)
