While we were out on our final trip of the spring semester the Jack Mountain Bushcraft Podcast passed a big milestone; 100,000 downloads. I’m not one to study the statistics or demographics and stress over getting more listeners. I never have been. But I’m excited that so many people are interested in what we’re doing.
With all of our media, we’ve made a conscious decision to discuss the things that interest us, not necessarily the things that will increase the size of our audience. We don’t post gear reviews on knives, discuss what to do when zombies attack, or any of the other things we’re not interested in, but that draw big audiences. Yes, it would probably increase our reach, but that isn’t our goal. Our goal has always been to develop of body of work over time that we can be proud of and that helps explain what we do and why we do it. And if only 10 people are interested, that’s alright with us. So the fact that we’ve somehow managed to get 100,000 podcast downloads is pretty remarkable.
Even with a larger following, we’re not interested in changing things up. Yes, we’ve recently hired an audio engineer, a makeup artist, a personal fashion consultant, a team of PR people and a monkey sidekick, but we’re going to just keep on doing what we’ve been doing.
So thank you for all of the support and interest.

Great job Tim
Congratulations on 100000!! The reason I listen is because of how you do what you do. I’m not interested in prepping or the zombie apocalypse, just tried and true knowledge to fill my brain. Thanks so much for not selling out to get ‘likes'(whatever they are).
Thank you Bryant.
Thanks Seth. Although if anyone were ever to offer us $5 to sell out, it would happen very quickly!
Love what you guys are doing with the podcasts, congrats to Chris and yourself on your excellent content. A lot of what comes across on the podcast as far as teaching “style” I try to pass on to our Scout troop. Thanks
Thanks Jim! Both for the comment and words of support.
